Joel Sheldon
VP, Financial Planner & Retirement Specialist
Joel’s start in his working career was as an Environmental Engineer, after obtaining a PE (Professional Engineer) license and Master’s degree from California State University at Long Beach. After working in that field for over 20 years, his desire to work more with people precipitated a move to the financial arena, where he could develop relationships with his clients, yet still utilize the technical skills he had developed with math, spreadsheets, and designing solutions. He obtained his securities and insurance licenses and has been working in the Wealth Management field for over 10 years.
As a Financial Planner/Advisor, his goal is to help clients toward achieving their financial goals and dreams, whatever they may be. He enjoys providing comprehensive financial planning services to help individuals and businesses with investment strategies, retirement planning, protection planning, estate planning, and tax reduction strategies. The process involves establishing financial goals, gathering relevant data, analyzing the data, and developing a plan toward achieving their goals. Typically, this involves maximizing financial return within a stated risk objective, minimizing tax liability, and protecting future viability and intangibles. He also enjoys educating his clients to help avoid some of the potential pitfalls and landmines of the personal finance and investing world. Overall, he seeks to serve as an advocate for his client’s financial success.
Joel holds the following FINRA registrations: Series 7 (General Securities Representative), 62 (Corporate Securities), 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law), and 66 (Uniform Combined State Law). He also holds a CA Insurance License for Life, Accident & Health, and Variable Contracts. His passions are music, playing guitar, watching and playing sports, reading, camping and spending time with his wife and 3 children. His daughter Marisa delivered his first grandchild in 2019, entitling him to use the distinguished moniker “Grandpa”.
